Parker Power

We operate one of the largest towboat fleets in the region with vessels ranging from 700 horsepower to 4600 horsepower. Though we concentrate primarily on the Black Warrior, Tennessee-Tombigbee, Tennessee, Cumberland and East Canal Waterways, we do provide service to points such as Minneapolis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Houston.

 

Alice Parker

This 120 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in March, 1998 and re-named in honor of Mrs. Alice Parker Haun, daughter of the Company's founder, Captain Tim Parker, Sr. Built in 1976 by Hillman Barge & Construction Company, Brownsville, PA., it is powered by two 16 cylinder Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines, delivering 4,200 horse power through 7:1 REINTJES reduction gears. Originally named the EXXON LOUISVILLE, when owned by Exxon Shipping Company of Houston, Texas. It's ownership was transferred in August 1993 to SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. of Baton Rouge, LA., were it was re-named the S/R LOUISVILLE. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Alison Haun

This 111.5 foot by 35 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in July, 1989 and re-named in honor of Mrs. Alison Haun Phillips, granddaughter of the Company's founder, Captain Tim Parker, Sr. Built in 1975 by Scully Bros. Boat Builders, Stephensville, La., it was re-powered in 1978 with two 12 cylinder General Motors E.M.D. model 645E2 diesel engines, delivering 2,800 horse power through REINTJES reduction gears.

Originally named the TERRY K. when owned by Bunge Towing, Inc. of Greenville, Mississippi, it was repowered with it's present engines in 1978. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Bobby Joe James

This 130 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in June, 1994 and re-named in honor of Captain Bobby Joe James, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and now retired Vice President of Operations and Port Captain.

Built in 1975 by Fredeman Shipyard, Carlyss, La., it is powered by two 16 cylinder General Motors E.M.D. model 645E2 diesel engines, delivering 4,200 horsepower through 3.78 to 1 WESTERN reduction gears.

Originally named the SISSIE CRAWFORD while owned by Port Arthur Towing Company, Port Arthur, Texas.

It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Cathy Parker

This 85 foot by 32 foot twin screw towboat was designed and built by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in 1975 and named in honor of Mrs. Catherine J. Parker, wife of Parker Towing company Inc. President and Board Chairman, Tim Parker Jr.. Built in 1975 by Larose Shipyard, Larose, LA., it is powered by two 6 cylinder FAIRBANKS & MORSE model 38D 8-1/8 Opposed Piston diesel engines, delivering 2,000 horse power through 2.5 to 1 REINTJES reduction gears. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Charles Haun

The Motor Vessel Charles Haun was built in 2012 by C&G Boat Works, Inc. in Mobile, AL. This is the second boat in Parker Towing's fleet with an octagonal wheelhouse, which was designed to meet the company's river system needs. The motor vessel is among the largest in Parker Towing's Fleet at 147'6" long and 34' wide. The two main engines are Caterpillar 3516's producing a total of 4000 horsepower at 1600 RPM with Reintjes Reduction Gears. It is an open wheel boat that turns two 96 x 78 five bladed stainless steel Sound Propellers.

The M/V Charles Haun serves on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal Waterways, and Mobile Bay.

Cullen Landolt

The motor vessel Cullen Landolt was built in 1981 by Hudson Shipbuilders in Pascagoula, MS. It is 85' and 34' wide. The two main engines are GM EMD 12-645's producing 2400 horsepower at 800 RPM with Haley Gears turning two 84' x 84' four bladed stainless steel propellers. The motor vessel serves on the Warrior, Tombigbee, Ten-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal east Waterways, and Mobile Bay.

Curtis Taylor

This 110 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in May, 2007 and re-named in honor of Captain Curtis Taylor, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and Captain of the Thelma Parker II. Built in 1975 by Scully Brothers Boat Builders, Stephensville, LA., it is powered by two 12 cylinder General Motors EMD model 645 diesel engines, delivering 3,000 horse power through 3.5 to 1 Reintjes reduction gears. The vessel was originally named the Jimmie L, by Systems Fuels, Inc. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Gilbert Taylor

This 141 foot by 35 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. October, 1990 and re-named in honor of Mr. Gilbert Taylor, a long time employee of Parker Towing company Inc. and now retired Port Engineer. Built in 1972 by Superior Boat Works, Greenville, MS., it is powered by two 16 cylinder general Motors E.M.D. model 645E's diesel engines, delivering 3,800 horse power through 3.75 to 1 WESTERN reduction gears. Originally named the MARY WEATHERS while owned by Weathers Towing, Inc., Greenville, MS. It was sold to Bunge Towing, Inc., Greenville, MS. in 1980. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Gorgas

This 57 foot by 20 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in 2001 and re-named in honor of Alabama Power Company's Gorgas Steam Plant at Gorgas, Alabama. Built in 1956 by Barbour Metal Boat Works, St. Louis, MO. it was re-powered in 1975 with two 6 cylinder CATERPILLAR model D343TA diesel engines, delivering 700 horse power through 4.5 to 1 CATERPILLER reduction gears. Originally named the MISS JESSIE while owned by Green River Towing Corp., Calhoun, Kentucky, it was sold in 1964 to Ray B. Potts Towing Co., Sardis, Ohio, who promptly sold it to Mon River Towing who re-named it LILLIAN G. and sold it in 1968 to Ohio Valley Towing, Inc., Glenwillard, PA. Ohio Valley Towing, Inc. sold it in 1970 to James H. Todd, East Liverpool, Ohio who re-named it the MICKEY DAWSON. It was then sold in 1972 to Hickman Harbor Service, Hickman, Kentucky and re-named CITY OF HICKMAN and sold it in 1973 to AM&O Towing, Inc., Negley, Ohio who re-named it the Stephen W. It is presently in service at Alabama Power Company's Gorgas Steam Plant in Gorgas, Alabama.

Hamp Uzzelle

The motor vessel Hamp Uzzelle was built in 1960 by Hawkins Towing & Barging Co., in Beaumont, Texas. The Hamp Uzzelle is assigned to Parker Towing’s Gulf Operations where it works on the Intercoastal Canal and as fleeting vessel in the Mobile area. The vessel is 64.6’ long and 24’ wide, powered by two (2) Mitsubishi S6RY3 main engines which produce 1368 horsepower at 1800 RPM through Twin Disc Reduction Gears. It is an Open wheel boat with two (2) 68” x 54° four bladed stainless-steel propellers.

Heloise

This 130 foot by 35 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. December, 1995 and re-named in honor of Captain Tim Parker's first riverboat the "HELOISE" . Built in 1973 by Fredeman Shipyard, Carlyss, LA., it is powered by two 16 cylinder general Motors E.M.D. model 645C's diesel engines, delivering 3,800 horse power through 3.75 to 1 WESTERN reduction gears. Originally named the SYDALISE FREDEMAN while owned by Port Authur Towing Company, Port Author, Texas. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Jared Phillips

This twin-screw towboat measures 128 feet in length and 34 feet in width. It was designed by FMT and modified for Parker Towing Company, Inc. and is named in honor of Mr. Jared Phillips, Operations Manager for Parker Towing Company, Inc. and husband of Alison Haun Phillips, granddaughter of founder, Captain Timothy Mize Parker, Sr. Being built in 2020 at FMT Shipyard & Repair, LLC, Harvey, LA., it is powered by two 16-cylinder CATERPILLAR model 3516 diesel engines, delivering 4,200 horsepower through 7.08 to 1 REINTJES reduction gears. Once completed, it will be in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tomm, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Megan Parker

The M/V Megan Parker was built in 2011 by C&G Boat Works, Inc. in Mobile, AL. She breaks new ground with an octagonal wheelhouse, which was designed to meet Parker Towing Company's river system needs. The motor vessel is among the largest in Parker Towing's fleet at 147'6" long and 34' wide. The main engines are GE 8L250, making 2305 horsepower each, a total of 4610 horsepower at 900 RPM with Lufkin Gears. It has two 99" CT28 Kort Nozzles and turns two 98" by 115" five bladed stainless steel Kaplan Propellers.

It serves on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways, and Mobile Bay.

Miss Marion

This 54 x 22 twin screw towboat is operated by Parker Towing Company Mobile, AL Operations. Built in 1980 by Mobile Shipbuilding and Repair in Mobile, AL, it is powered by two Mitsubishi S6A engines delivering 1000 HP through Twin Disc 6:1 reduction gears. It was owned by Parker Towing Co. until sold in 1985 to Marigold Tugs Inc. Birmingham, AL. Nelson Marine Services Inc. Mobile, AL operated the towboat until it was purchased by Parker Towing Company in 2011.

Miss Morgan

This 55 foot by 22 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in October, 2004 and renamed at the request of Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa who chose the name after holding an employee "boat naming" contest.. Built in 1974 at Forkland Island Shipyards, Kaplan, LA. it is powered by two 12 cylinder GENERAL MOTORS model 12V-71 diesel engines, delivering 800 horse power through 6 to 1 TWIN DISC model 514C reduction gears. Completly rebuilt in 2002 and 2003 by B&B Boat builders, Inc., Bayou la Batre, Al. Exact history for this vessel is unavailable at this time. Previously named MISS KIM when purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. from B&B Boat Builders, Inc. Bayou la Batre, Al. It is presently in service at Nucor Steel's Tuscaloosa, Alabama mill.

Normond McAllister

The motor vessel Normond McAllister was built in 1981 by United Shipbuilding & Repair in Vinton, Louisiana. The Normond McAllister is assigned to Parker Towing’s Gulf Operations where it works on the Intercoastal Canal and as fleeting vessel in the Mobile area. The vessel is 60’ long and 22’ wide, powered by two (2) Mitsubishi S6RY3 main engines which produce 1368 horsepower at 1800 RPM through Twin Disc Reduction Gears. It is an Open wheel boat with two 62” x 54° four bladed stainless-steel propellers.

Olive Parker

This twin-screw towboat measures 147.5 feet in length and 34 feet in width. It was designed by Parker Towing Company, Inc. and is named in honor of Ms. Olive Parker, daughter of Timothy Mize Parker III, President of Parker Towing Company, Inc. and great granddaughter of founder, Captain Timothy Mize Parker, Sr. Built in 2020 at C&C Marine and Repair, Belle Chase, LA., it is powered by two 16-cylinder CATERPILLAR model 3516 diesel engines, delivering 4,200 horsepower through 7.08 to 1 REINTJES reduction gears. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Randy Baygents

This 111.5 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in June, 2008 and re-named in honor of Randy Baygents, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and Port Engineer. Built in 1975 by Scully Brothers Boat Builders, Stephensville, LA., it is powered by two 16 cylinder Caterpillar Model 3516 diesel engines, delivering 3,200 horse power through 4.571 to 1 Reintjes reduction gears. The vessel was originally named the Hope M, by Systems Fuels, Inc. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Rhett Parker

This 85 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was designed and built by Parker Towing Company, Inc. 1982 and named in honor of Mr. Rhett Parker, father of the company's founder Captain Tim Parker, Sr. Built in 1982 by Mississippi marine Towboat Corp., Greenville, MS., it is powered by two 12 cylinder CATERPILLAR model 3512 diesel engines, delivering 2,100 horse power through 6 to 1 CATERPILLAR reduction gears. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee Waterways and Mobile Bay.

San D

This 60 x 24 twin screw towboat is operated by Parker Towing Company Mobile, AL Operations. Built in 1981 by Mobile Shipbuilding and Repair in Mobile, AL, it is powered by 2 GM 12V-71 engines delivering 800 hp through Twin Disc 5.17:1 reduction gears.  It was owned by Parker Towing Co. until sold in 1985 to Marigold Tugs Inc. Birmingham, AL. Nelson Marine Services Inc. Mobile, AL operated the towboat until it was purchased by Parker Towing Company in 2011.

T. Gary Fitts

This 60 x 24 twin screw towboat is operated by Parker Towing Company Mobile, AL Operations. Built in 1981 by DH&D Ironworks Inc. Larose, LA, it has been re-powered in 2018 with two Mitsubishi S6A engines delivering 1000 HP through Twin Disc 6:1 reduction gears. Originally the Daphne Renee, it was owned by D&R Boats and operated by I.W.C. Inc. Lockport, LA. until sold in 1994 to Daphne Renee Inc. Mobile, AL. The vessel was sold in 2006 and renamed the L.W. Nelson by Marigold Tugs, Inc. Birmingham, AL. Nelson Marine Services Inc. Mobile, AL operated the towboat until it was purchased by Parker Towing Company in 2011.

Temple Huckabee

This 133 foot by 34.7 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in June, 2010 and re-named in honor of Captain Temple Huckabee, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and senior captain.

Built in 1972 by Greenville Shipbuilding Corporation, Greenville, MS., it is powered by two 16 cylinder General Motors E.M.D. model 645 diesel engines, delivering 3,800 horsepower through 3 to 1 WESTERN reduction gears.

Originally named the NITA VICKERS while owned by Vickers Towing Company, Greenville, Mississippi it was sold in 1974 to Ashland, Inc. (Now Marathon Petroleum Company) Ashland, KY. and renamed TRI-STATE.

It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Terah Huckabee

This 120 foot by 34 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in June, 2010 and re-named in honor of Captain Terah Huckabee, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee.

Built in 1977 by Hillman Barge & Construction Company, Brownsville, PA., it is powered by two 16 cylinder CATERPILLAR model 3516 diesel engines, delivering 4,000 horsepower through 7.08 to 1 REINTJES reduction gears.

Originally named the EXXON MOBILE while owned by Exxon Shipping Company, Houston, TX it was transferred in August, 1993 to SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., Baton Rouge, LA and renamed the S/R MOBILE. Leased in January 1997 to Coastal Towing, Inc and renamed G. B. PICKET, JR until returned to SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. in April, 2000 when it was again renamed S/R MOBILE. Sold November, 2001 and renamed MARIE D by FMT Industries LLC and operated by Florida Marine Transporters, Inc., Mandeville, LA.

It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Thelma Parker II

This 140 foot by 35 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in December, 2004. 
Built in 1974 by Mainstream Shipyards, Greenville, MS., it is powered by two 16 cylinder Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines, delivering 4,200 horse power through 7 to 1 REINTJES reduction gears. Originally named the FRANK H. PEAVY while owned by Greenville Towing Co., Inc. It was transfered to William Leasing Company, Greenville, MS in March, 1979 and renamed SHELLY MOTT. Sold in May, 1982 to TPC Transportation Company Inc., St. Louis, MO. and renamed SNO SHEEN. Sold in February, 1989 to Peavey, MS and renamed GREENVILLE. Sold in March, 1996 to American Commercial Barge Line, Jeffersonville, Indiana.

It replaces the original M/V Thelma Parker which was destroyed by a devastating fire while transiting the Tenn-Tom Waterway on October 18, 1998. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee River, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intercoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Tim Parker

This 85 foot by 32 foot twin screw towboat was designed and built by Parker Towing Company, Inc. 1980 and named in honor of the company's founder Captain Timothy Mize Parker Sr., his son Timothy Mize Parker, Jr. and his grandson Timothy Mize Parker III.

Built in 1980 by Mainstream Shipyards, Greenville, MS., it has been re-powered with two Mitsubishi S12R Heavy Duty engines and Reintjes WAF665 reduction gears at 5.95.1 delivering 2520HP at 1600 RPM. It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Tom Huckabee

This 133 foot by 34.4 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in June, 2010 and re-named in honor of Captain Tom Huckabee, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and senior captain.

Built in 1968 by Greenville Shipbuilding Corporation, Greenville, MS., it is powered by two 16 cylinder General Motors E.M.D. model 645E2 diesel engines, delivering 3,800 horsepower through 3.737 to 1 HALEY reduction gears.

Originally named the JIMMY VICKERS while owned by Delta Towing Company, Greenville, Mississippi it was sold in 1970 to Gulf-Northern Company, Inc., McKees Rocks, PA. and renamed SARAH E.THOMAS. Sold in December, 1976 to Harcon Barge Company, Smithland, KY and renamed MARIE THOMPSON. Sold in February, 1988 to M/G Transport Services, Inc., Cincinnati, OH and renamed RICHARD A HAIN. Sold December, 1994 to Ingram Barge Company, Nashville, TN and renamed HOWARD A. THOMPSON. Sold April 2004 and renamed DOUG ROBERTS by DJP Marine LLC and operated by Florida Marine Transporters, Inc., Mandeville, LA.

It is presently in service on the Warrior-Tombigbee, Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, Ohio, Upper and Lower Mississippi, Intracoastal East Waterways and Mobile Bay.

Touchstone

This 52 foot by 22 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in January 2001 and re-named "Touchstone Energy" in honor of Alabama Electric Cooperative's (AEC) membership in the national Touchstone Energy Alliance. Built in 1979 by Albert Ortis Boat Building, Krotz Springs, LA. it is powered by two GENERAL MOTORS model 12V-71 diesel engines, delivering 800 horse power through 6 to 1 TWIN DISC reduction gears. Originally named the ALFRED MORA while owned by Mid-Coast Barge Corporation, Port Aransas, Texas. It was sold to Southern Navigation Corporation, Chalmette, Lousiana in 1994 and re-named RUSSELL L. SANBORN. It is presently in service at Alabama Electric Cooperative's Lowman Power Plant in Leroy, Alabama.
